The Dumb Waiters - A Celebration Of Bad Service At It's Best
Have you ever been at a function, dinner and thought ‘The service here is terrible, is this a wind up?’ Well now is the time to turn tables and tease your guests.
Unbeknown to the party the Dumb Waiters intermingle with the real waiting staff and there the fun begins…
At pre – dinner drinks, serving their very own special ‘canapés’ they have your guests bemused by their dubious appearance.
While they start off fairly low key (yet unmistakably quirky) fashion, by the time dinner is served a few people will have clicked that they’ve been duped.
Then they can sit back and laugh at the others who have yet to realise that the waiter having a ‘sneaky cigarette’ at their table isn’t the real thing.
As the comedy level steps up, umpteen strange and bizarre things will be occurring and more and more people will realise they have been ‘had’. Only the very gullible (or stupid) will remain convinced the service is appalling!
Upon coffee the true identities of the ‘spoof waiters’ are exposed and we spend a few moments of tongue-in-cheek observations about audience reaction throughout the evening.
The Dumb Waiters deliver a dish that is a mixture of ‘ Fawlty Towers ’ with a dash of ‘Trigger Happy’ nonsense. This duo serve a feast of fun leaving your guests wanting seconds!
The Characters
ELVIS BABCOCK – Not the King of Rock but he will make you roll with laughter. The man with the tatty unkempt appearance ‘houndog’ face and ridiculous hairstyle will mope around tutting and complaining. You will wonder how on earth he maintains his job. With an answer for everything (usually the wrong one) this waiter will serve you up a treat you will not forget!
VIRGINIA TWLVTREES – A veteran waitress whose been there, done it and designed the T-shirt! She has an unusual talent for strange noises and ticks. With her observations omn life’s mysteries she will give you advice and opinions on everything in the universe. Virginia will keep you entertained… but you will not know why!
SILVER SERVICE – Silver service are two old souls to be found in many a former manor house, now a hotel.
Gasper Thrupp – A legend in ‘buttling’ this relic from the past will regale you with the stories of how he served former masters in ‘hunting pinks’. This old retainer will treat you in a way that is all but lost in modern society, leaving you feeling both pandered and perplexed.
Nelly Flood – A spinster of indeterminate age and with unusual ideas about personal etiquette. She will share her views on the merits of liberty bodices and goose grease.
Stuck in a time warp Nelly and Gaspar entertain in a slightly more obvious manner. They are ideal icebreakers’ as well as a sparkling ‘meet and greet’ during pre dinner drinks.
Sing A Long Waiters
The ‘Sing a long a waiters’ does exactly what it says on the label! Our comedy waiters burst out into song and encourage the guests to join in with gusto. Handing out song sheets and backed by professional backing tapes they belt out songs from a mixture of 50’s 60’s 70’s to old time and Christmas favourites. Ideal silver / gold anniversary entertainment as well as special birthdays.
